PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. For all staff members hired after May 31, 2014, outside experience credit will be given for up to seven (7) years. To be eligible for educational advancement, a staff member must be taking graduate-level classes that are part of an advanced degree program or endorsement that will benefit the district. All courses used for this credit must be approved by the Superintendent or his/her designee. Only fully licensed staff members will be eligible for these tracks. Undergraduate course work will count for educational advancement provided that: 1) the staff member is not eligible to take graduate courses in that field; 2) that the course work will directly benefit the staff member’s assignment or anticipated assignment; and 3) such courses are approved by the Superintendent or the Superintendent’s designee. Grandfather Clause: Licensed staff members who prior to January 1, 2018, began taking graduate-level courses that extend past MA but do not lead to an advanced degree or endorsement may be approved to continue taking such courses for educational advancement to either MA+15 or MA+30 (only one, not both), provided that the coursework is completed and grades are submitted by December 30, 2019. MA + 30 will be available only for staff members hired prior to June 1, 2014. A Master of Social Work/Psychology Degree shall be considered the equivalent of MA+30. Based upon degree program, Occupational Therapists and Physical Therapists may also be considered equivalent of MA + 30. Educational advancement will only occur once a year at the beginning of the school year. In order to qualify educational advancement in a given year, the staff member must notify the Human Resources Department by submitting an official transcript, grade report or certificate of completion no later than September 1st in the year in which the educational advancement is to take place. The actual change and corresponding compensation adjustment will only occur when the official transcript is received by the Human Resources Department and will be retroactive to the beginning of the school year. Salary computations shall be made on the basis of 180 days for the duration of the agreement. All pro-rated days shall have salary adjusted accordingly. PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. 11.1 The basic salaries of teachers covered by this Contract shall be set in accordance with the procedures set forth in this Agreement. 11.2 The salary of the teacher will be presumed correct as shown in the Uniform Teacher’s Contract unless the teacher or the Employer furnishes evidence of error. 11.3 An explanation as to how contract salary figures are computed will accompany the first paycheck of each school year. 11.4 Basic salaries for teachers shall be paid in twenty-six (26) payments. Basic salaries for teachers shall be paid in twenty-six (26) payments in a given calendar year. Exceptions may be made with the approval of the Cash Flow Committee. A teacher may receive the balance due on his contract with the first scheduled paycheck in July by written notice to the Business Office by May 1. If May 1 occurs on a day that school is not in session, the deadline shall be the next regular school day. A teacher who makes this election shall continue each year to receive the balance due on his contract with the first scheduled paycheck in July unless he notifies the Business Office by May 1 that he prefers to be paid in twenty-six (26) payments. Teachers will be notified by the Cash Flow Committee of the Xxxxxxx Teachers’ Federation prior to June 1 in the event the balance on teachers’ contracts due on the first scheduled paycheck in July cannot be paid. 11.5 New teachers will receive one half (½) of their first pay one payroll in advance and the remaining one half (½) on the next pay date. 11.6 Effective January 1, 2009, teacher pay will be issued via direct deposit only. 11.7 The Superintendent may approve additional compensation for individual teachers who have been authorized by the Superintendent to perform additional work assignments. 11.8 Payroll deductions for teachers shall be made as required by law or as mutually agreed to by the parties. PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. A. The salaries and supplemental Schedule B stipends of teacher covered by this Agreement are set forth in Schedules "A" and "B" which are attached to and incorporated in this Agreement. B. Outside teaching experience in schools of approved standing may be granted at full credit. This provision shall not be retroactive prior to the date of this contract. C. Salary adjustments for advanced training will be made twice each year at the beginning of each semester (pro-rated for second semester) for training completed prior to either date at a state accredited college or university. It shall be the responsibility of the teacher to notify the personnel office within thirty (30) days of the completion of the necessary work and/or confirmation of the degree. D. When normal daily load of any teacher is expanded through assignment of extra students or by changing teacher’s assignment for the day to provide for lack of substitutes, or to provide intervention services via an independent program, said teacher shall be paid $25.00 per class in the Senior High and Middle School. When pupils in any elementary class are divided among several teachers, said teachers shall be paid at a total rate per day not to exceed substitute pay plus $5.00 and to be divided among teachers involved. When any senior high or Middle School teacher forgoes his/her preparation period on an ongoing basis to take a teaching assignment, other than as a substitute for a teacher absent from their classroom, or to provide intervention services via an independent program, said teacher shall be paid one-sixth of their daily rate for the Middle School and 1/5 for the High School per lost preparation period. All available qualified teachers shall have the opportunity to voluntarily apply for such an assignment. E. Teachers shall be paid their regular salaries (not to include Schedule B duties) according to one of the following schedules with each staff member having the option of choosing one of these schedules which shall be indicated no later than the first week of school. 1. PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. 22.1 All full-time teachers, with the exception of JROTC instructors, school psychologists, and secondary guidance counselors (defined as guidance counselors in schools housing seventh grade or above), will be paid for 196 days according to the salary schedule as shown in Appendix C. 22.1-1 The standard year employment for psychologists is 216 days, however flexible length contracts of 196 days or 247 days may be made available at the discretion of the Coordinator of Psychological Services. Requests for the flexible contracts are voluntary and positions will be filled according to seniority as defined in Article XIX, Section 19.2. A balance of flexible contracts will be maintained. Psychologists may be permitted to change to a flexible contract before each new school year through the Coordinator of Psychological Services. School psychologists performing psychological assessments of students on Saturday will be paid based on the Adult School Salary Schedule as shown in Appendix E. If a student is a no show the School Psychologist shall remain at the worksite for two (2) paid hours. Should there be more psychologists requesting these assignments than available referrals, assignments will be given according to seniority in the county. 22.1-2 JROTC instructors shall be given the option, at the beginning of the school year, of going on the teacher salary schedule or be paid on the basis of the Board's agreement with the various branches of the armed services. School psychologists and secondary guidance counselors shall be paid for 216 days according to the salary schedule shown in Appendix C. 22.1-3 All teachers employed in the Polk Virtual School program shall observe the traditional calendar. PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. A. Newly employed members may be granted credit on the salary schedule for experience gained in any other accredited schools. B. Members employed under an annual vocational certification may be granted credit at the employer’s option for appropriate work experience. C. Employees required in the course of their work to drive personal automobiles from one school building to another shall receive mileage reimbursement equal to the IRS rate per mile. The same reimbursement shall be given for use of personal cars for field trips, special meetings, or any other authorized school business of the district, and must be submitted to the business office on a monthly basis. Whenever feasible members going to the same destination should carpool. D. Secondary teachers accepting a fifth (5th) and sixth (6th) teaching period shall receive additional compensation equal to 1/5 or 1/6 of his/her contracted salary. E. Advanced degrees submitted before the first day of school in each year will be recognized for full lane advancement during that school year, if it has been agreed to grant lanes that year. Advanced degrees submitted on the second Monday following the December break or May 1st will be advanced a lane, prorated. F. Any Educational Specialist degree earned after August 30, 1997 must be in an area of the members certification to qualify for additional compensation. Current employees with an Ed. Specialist degree are grandfathered. No employee can move to EDSP lane after May 5, 2021. MA 19 lane is changed to MA 30 lane. PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. A. The Basic salaries of employees covered by this Agreement are attached and incorporated in this Agreement. Such salary schedule shall remain in effect during the term of this Agreement. Any employee who works over and above the regular 40-hour week will be compensated at 1½ times his/her regular hourly wage. If an employee works overtime in a different job classification, the employee will be compensated at 1½ times the regular hourly wage for that job classification, at the step the employee is currently employed at. In order for an employee to receive overtime pay, he/she must physically work the full 40-hour week prior to the overtime hours worked. Sunday work will be compensated at two times the hourly wage. Whenever the situation arises that requires work over and above the regular 40-hour work week, assignments of personnel will be made by the supervisor involved and will be scheduled equally among employees. Employees called in on off hours will be paid one-hour minimum pay. All scheduled overtime must be approved by the Director of Operations or designee prior to hours worked. B. Employees will be paid on the 15th and the last day of the month. Payroll checks will be direct deposited into the employee’s designated financial institution. C. Employees required in the course of their work to drive personal vehicles from one school building to another, shall receive a vehicle allowance set equal to federal government standards rounded down to the nearest cent at July 1 annually. The same allowance shall be given for use of personal vehicles for field trips or other business of the district. The Board shall provide property damage and liability insurance protection for employees when their personal vehicles are used as provided in this section. D. Working hours - Custodial/Maintenance employees are expected to work a normal eight (8) consecutive hour day. E. Attendance at professional meetings, conferences, and workshops is desirable to maintain and improve competence and proficiency, and to enhance the educational program. Each employee shall be allowed time off with pay to attend such conference. With administrative approval, the employer will reimburse up to $150 (per employee) for attending conferences, workshops (training sessions), and professional meetings. F. PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. A. The salaries of teachers covered by this Agreement are set forth in Schedule A and subject to the provisions of Schedule A, which is attached to, and incorporated in, this Agreement. 1. The salary Schedule A. I. is for a normal teaching load as defined in Article VI. For extra duty which has received prior administrative approval, the teacher shall be entitled to appropriate professional compensation: in compensatory time; through a teacher's hourly rate as defined in ¶ B.3; or in accordance with Sections E or F of this Article; or as listed in Schedule A. II, as may be applicable. The administration shall establish a system-wide list of additional activities for which compensatory time will be available and the amount of compensatory time associated with each. This list shall be updated with HEA input on a yearly basis and be distributed to teachers at the start of each school year. 2. Compensatory time is defined as personal leave earned by extra duty, and may be substituted for monetary payment equal to the teacher hourly rate as defined in ¶ B.3. a. Accrued compensatory time may be used at the discretion of the teacher provided that, compensatory time shall not be scheduled for use on more that three (3) consecutive school days. Furthermore, compensatory time may not be scheduled contiguous to Christmas, mid- winter and/or spring break. Exceptions for special circumstances my be granted by the signed approval of the building principal and contingent upon substitute availability. Within five (5) days the teacher must confirm with the building principal that a substitute has been obtained. b. Compensatory time shall be credited and deducted as follows: For substitution at the High School, Middle School, and Elementary level during a teacher’s planning period or specials time, a “unit” of instruction shall be credited and deducted in whole units. Five (5) “units” of instruction shall equate to one compensatory “day”. Compensatory time can only be earned and used in whole “units”. c. A teacher may carry over a maximum of the equivalence of ten (10) days of accumulated compensatory time to the next school year. Should a teacher have more than ten (10) days of compensatory time accumulated at the end of the school year the teacher shall have the option of either converting his/her compensatory time he/she has accumulated beyond the ten (10) day carry over maximum into sick time at a one (1) compensatory day (or portion thereof) to one (1) sick leave day (...
