Hospice services means symptom and pain management to a terminally ill individual, and emotional, spiritual and bereavement services for the individual and their family in a place of temporary or permanent residence, and may include the provision of home health and home care services for the terminally ill individual.
Hospice means a model of care that focuses on relieving symptoms and supporting patients with a life expec- tancy of six months or less. Hospice involves an interdisci- plinary approach to provide health care, pain management, and emotional and spiritual support. The emphasis is on com- fort, quality of life and patient and family support. Hospice can be provided in the patient's home as well as freestanding hospice facilities, hospitals, nursing homes, or other long- term care facilities.
Categorically needy means the status of a person who is eligi- ble for medical care under Title XIX of the Social Security Act. See WAC 182-512-0010 and chapter 182-513 WAC.
Cultural means relating to the habits, practices, beliefs, and traditions of a certain group of people.
Emergency medical care provider means an individual who has been trained to provide emergency and nonemergency medical care at the first responder, EMT-basic, EMT-intermediate, EMT-paramedic, paramedic specialist or other certification levels recognized by the department before 1984 and who has been issued a certificate by the department.
Supportive services means social, health, educational, income support and employment services and benefits, coordination of community building and educational activities, individualized needs assessment, and individualized assistance with obtaining services and benefits.
