137 Normal Duties Clause Examples for Any Agreement
Normal Duties. (a) Faculty members are accountable for 10 months of the year. The 10 months accountable time includes such activities as teaching, the counselling of students, curriculum/program development, professional development and participation on a variety of educational committees.
(b) At least one month before the commencement of any accountable time longer than four consecutive days, and covering activities other than teaching or professional development the faculty member will submit for approval to the appropriate administrator an activity plan for this period. Approval will not be unreasonably withheld. On an annual basis, the faculty member will submit to the appropriate administrator a written report of their accountable time activities.

Normal Duties. A) No employee covered by this Agreement shall be required to perform duties not associated with:
1) Firefighting, fire prevention, maintenance of firefighting apparatus, equipment, tools, or facilities, and other duties as are necessary for the efficient operation of the Fire Department; or
2) Emergency first aid, paramedic (if certified), and rescue duties in connection with the operation of the Fire Department; or
3) Demonstrations or instructions to the public or various organizations concerning public safety; or
4) Other duties included in the goals and mission of the Department as set forth in the Fire Department’s mission statement as mutually agreed to by the parties.

Recognizing the diversity of needs and structures of different Departments and areas, the following outlines the broad activities which may fall under the responsibility of the different categories of faculty members. This is not an exhaustive list and not all activities may apply. With this understanding, the undertaking of the activities below constitutes a fair and reasonable work assignment within a Department or area.
(1) Instructional Faculty
(i) Teaching: • The development and revision of course outlines. • The development and revision of curriculum. • The preparation of courses, including but not limited to course presentations, online delivery platforms, and other course related activities. • Responsibility for the delivery of courses, including lectures, seminars, laboratories, clinical supervision, simulations, field trips, and online or hybrid course delivery. • Student assessment, testing, and placement. • Student consultations, including office hours (1 hour per week per 3 credit course or equivalent). • Work integrated learning placements. • Submission of grades in accordance with policy.
(ii) Service: • Participation in program, department, faculty, and university committees and events. • Participation in program quality assurance activities including program review and accreditation. • Participation in regional, national and international committees and other professional organizations. • Other non-teaching duties to support the Faculty or University.
